Lakeia Nard Melanin Children Matter - Science in Society 2024 Meeting

Back in October, I had the incredible opportunity to attend the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative’s Science in Society event at the beautiful Hayes Mansion in San Jose.

Being surrounded by advocates and researchers who share a passion for advancing equity in science and community work was nothing short of inspiring. It reminded me why I started Melanin Children Matter—to push for change, amplify underrepresented voices, and create resources for families navigating rare diseases and autism. 💙

This experience deepened my drive to keep advocating and building a legacy of resilience and hope. I’m excited for the work ahead and grateful for the chance to share our story in spaces like this.
